Introduction
These are good meters for measuring liquids in commercial and industrial applications. The velocity of the fluid creates rotational energy on the turbine rotor when fluid flows through the meter. A frequency signal is generated when turbine blades pass the magnetic field this frequency signal is proportional to the fluid velocity and is transmitted to a digital display, where the flow rate is calculated or converted into an analog output. Other sensors allow measurement of pressure and temperature. This is shown on the PC screen or LCD display. All testers contain an internal temperature sensor for measuring the temperature of the fluid as it passes through the flow meter body. The pressure is provided in either analog or digital format, depending on the model of the tester. PFM6 and PFM6BD testers are equipped with helical type pressure gauges, while the PFM8 tester includes a silicon strain gauge pressure sensor and the Flo-Check USB tester utilizes a piezoelectric pressure sensor. Power measurements are derived from the product of flow and pressure. The Flo-Check USB and the PFM8 are designed to calculate this measurement and display the results in either horsepower or kilowatts.
